FRIERSON PRESENTED FIRST IMC DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD


New York, NY- May 26, 1998 -- The Institute of Management Consultants (IMC), the largest professional association for management consultants in the United States, announces that Cartter Frierson, CMC and President of TCF Consulting Group LLC in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee was awarded with IMC’s first Distinguished Service Award at the 1998 Annual Conference’s closing banquet on Saturday, May 2. This newly developed award is presented to a member of IMC who has shown a sustained contribution to the association over a period of time.

"Cartter, as you may well know, has been a driving force in both conceptualizing and actualizing IMC’s presence on the World Wide Web. Through his contacts, knowledge and hands-on skill, he has worked with IMC to develop a website that has become both a tool for expanding member communication, and increasing awareness of IMC in the wider global community,” stated Immediate Past Chair Steve Savia.

He is also known for innovative ideas such as publishing the MCNI web site. MCNIŽ (Management Consultant Network International, Inc.), is an affiliate company Mr. Frierson started with consultant E. Michael Shays in 1995 to support consultants worldwide on the World Wide Web. Mr. Frierson joined IMC in 1980, became a Certified Management Consultant in 1981, and served on the national Board from 1987-1990. He began full-time consulting in 1977 after working in systems development in a Fortune 1000 manufacturing firm. He is an Honor Graduate of IBM System Science-II, has an MBA from The Wharton School and graduated from Dartmouth College.

Founded in 1968, the Institute of Management Consultants’ is a not for profit organization setting standards in the field and providing more than 200 workshops, seminars and conferences annually through 28 local chapters in the U.S. as well as through national and regional events. IMC administers a comprehensive certification program, awarding the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation to individuals who pass a rigorous written and oral examination and meet its requirements of education, experience, professionalism and independence.
